Below is a list of all the Bethune and Beaton immigrants that had assisted passage by the Highland and Island Immigration Society to Australia during the 1850's. Many of them were seeking relief from the poverty that was caused by the Highland clearances, and some were forced to emigrate.

It is ironic that they were displaced by the sheep, and some of them who had travelled half way round the world would become the protectors of the animal that replaced them.
